Lidia Roszko Receives the Saxony Media Solutions Prize 2024
Every year, Saxony Media Solution GmbH awards a prize for the best master's thesis in the field of software technology. This year, the €1,000 prize was awarded to Ms. Lidia Roszko for her significant contribution with her thesis on smart glasses. The award ceremony took place during Output.DD.
The goal of her master's thesis was to design a technology- and domain-abstracted reference architecture for adaptive and mobile information provision systems intended for wearables such as CAIS.ME, a context-aware information system for medical environments. Such systems could reduce the cognitive load on medical staff by displaying relevant information at the right time on lightweight AR smart glasses, assisting them with tasks such as documentation. Therefore an iterative and attribute-oriented design methodology was applied, focusing on satisfying the system's required quality attributes. The iterations covered overall system structure, session management, intra-service communication, and adaptivity.
Today, Lidia is part of the SECAI Graduate School, where she continues her research along the lines of her master's thesis. “My research focuses on adaptive and mobile information provision. This is important in many domains, such as industry and transportation, but our group particularly focuses on the medical domain,” says Lidia. With her research in SECAI, she aims to support hospital professionals in navigating extensive patient information, ensuring it is available at the point of care. “There are so many open research questions to explore in relation to CAIS.ME. One of them is AI-based customization of the provided data. The presentation style, content, and level of information detail of interest to the user may depend on many factors, including vital signs, medical history, laboratory values, age, other medical conditions, as well as user preferences and context”, Lidia points out.
With her ongoing research, Lidia Roszko is set to make further impactful contributions to the field of medical technology, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery through innovative solutions.
